LG’s Report Card

LG is up for its not-so-regular evaluation on service. And this year’s rating? Not so great.

As some of you may know, I have the LG PM325, a rather nifty looking sliding phone that several other people seemed to all get at the same time. I, however, am on my fourth phone.

The 0 and # keys on the first PM325 stopped working, so Mom traded it in. The replacement was somehow fried when I plugged it into my charger (which was non-standard, but had worked on the first phone without problems).

I traded in the second phone for another one, which was probably refurbished. It worked fine for a while, but then the 0 and # keys on that one stopped working as well. When we took it in to Sprint, we were informed that their repair policy had changed and it would cost $35. Since it was still under warranty, though, we were told that we could send it in to LG and they would repair it.

So we get an RMA number and mail it in. A few weeks later, we hear back saying that it’s not covered under warranty because the charger port was corroded, which is really bull because it’s never gotten wet or anything. They held their ground, though, even against Mom, which is really rather impressive.

Finally, we gave up and told them to just mail us the phone back. And, lo and behold, a package shows up from DHL a few days later…with a brand new phone.

But it gets better—there was no battery or battery cover.

We call them and are told that the battery and cover were shipped separately and should arrive soon. We got the battery yesterday, a day after receiving the phone.

So, let’s summarize:
-1 for saying they wouldn’t fix the phone
-1 for being jerks about it in the process
+1 for sending a new phone anyway
-1 for sending the battery separate from the phone

LG, here is your final grade:
Customer Service: Failure

In any case, I’m getting a Treo 650 as soon as I’ve had this phone long enough to sign over my soul again to Sprint, which will be about in May or so. Or I’ll get the 700, if I can figure out what happened to the Palm OS version, because I really don’t want to deal with PocketPC.

I’m keeping a list of other things I need to write about, but I need to finish packing for Spring Planning Meeting, so I’ll have to write them up later.

Hee… ^^;; I have a Motorola v551 and even though it’s bulky and it’s battery life is a pathetic joke, I’ve never had quite those kind of problems…

Hahaha. I have this really clunky Nokia that’s given me absolutely no problems throughout God knows how many years already. Funny how you screw up technology sometimes, eh? =P

Cingular has two RAZR’s for $100. Want to switch and split them/ You can even get a pink one if you want it.

ha. i would love to see broder carrying around a pink razr. they’re so hot right now, especially for UT sorority girls.

but in all seriousness, one of my friends has a razr and she hates it.
